This might not be your traditional workstation, but it straddles both work and play seamlessly. Inside is the most powerful laptop processor on the market, the 8-core AMD Ryzen 9, as well as an AMD Radeon RX5600M GPU and a 1TB PCIe SSD.View Deal
Laptop specialist Eurocom has unveiled an upgrade to its mobile server called the Tornado F7 SE, which can house a staggering five storage components (six if you include the card reader) to deliver a jaw dropping 40TB capacity.
That’s 8TB per storage device, spread across three M.2 NVMe slots and two 2.5” SATA3 slots that can run in multiple RAID configurations (RAID 0/1/5/10). The laptop is also capable of running in RAID 0/1/5 configuration with Sabrent NVMe SSDs.
The device, which seems to be based the Tornado F7W we reviewed last year, is one of the very few notebooks that can take 128GB memory and can work with both Intel Xeon and Intel Core processors.
It can power up to four monitors in 4K resolutions thanks to an array of ports and the option to run workstation-class GPUs such as the P5200 from Nvidia.
Now, who would want such a high-performance laptop? According to Eurocom, “power users who work with massive amounts of data and cannot risk any errors when it comes to their critical data being transferred/stored can all benefit largely from NVMe SSDs."
"These power users include, but are not limited to: IT professionals who work in Computer Aided Design (CAD), IT Architects who work with programs such as SOLIDWORKS and software designers/engineers who want to reduce their transfer and render times," the vendor added.
A word of warning, though: adding the additional storage to the base chassis increased the price of the device to a whopping $21,841 (around £16700/AU$30,600) - a near 6x increase in price.

Read MoreAs we approach a new year, it is only natural that we start to think back to what the previous one has been like. If you're the sort of person who likes to feel the wave of nostalgia that Facebook's Memories feature can bring each day, you're going to love the new feature that Instagram is introducing. Building on the idea of the Stories archive that was introduced a few years back, Instagram is adding a new, time-limited way to share your 2021 highlights with your friends. The new feature is called Playback, which gives you a way to create a customized journey through your year by selecting your favorite moments from your Stories archive. It is a more personal option than many of the "look back over the previous" year features that the likes of Facebook create as you are placed in control of what is included. While there is a lot to be said for automated "year in review" posts, what is algorithmically selected for inclusion may not match what you would have chosen yourself. And this is why Instagram's approach is so great. The new feature lets you select up to ten Stories from your archive, and if you would like to post an upbeat Playback, you can select all of the positive Stories you have posted across the year. Equally, you might be feeling more melancholy, in which case you can opt for the slightly sadder posts. Or, of course, you can mix it up to give a fair representation of the ups and downs that 2021 has probably involved for you. The Playback feature launches today and will be available for "A few weeks". You will see a message pop up within the app inviting you to create your Playback. You can then nostalgically sift through your Stories and select the ones that you think best sum up the year. Instagram also says that if you see a 2021 Story posted by somebody else, you just need to click on the 2021 sticker contained within that Story in order to create your own Playback. So take a browse through your Stories archive and share your 2021 highlights with your friends and family.Get reflective on Instagram
One of the most frustrating parts of using Microsoft Excel could finally be over thanks to a new update to the software. Microsoft has revealed it will be bringing support for smoother scrolling to its Excel Desktop app, hopefully resulting in a much better user experience. The spreadsheet software update should mean an end to accidentally snapping to random unwanted cells, or losing track of all your vital data in the middle of an important work task. At the moment, Excel struggles with smooth scrolling, as the software looks to automatically highlight the cell in the top-left of your spreadsheet - an issue Microsoft admits is frustrating, and not particularly easy to fix. "Though you might think this is an easy fix, simply requiring the alteration of a few lines of code, there’s actually a lot more to it," noted Microsoft engineer Steve Kraynak in a blog post outlining the change. "In fact, we learned that this change affects many different aspects of Excel, including freezing panes, resizing rows, cutting and pasting, filtering, cell styles, comments, dragging and filling, and more." The new smoother scrolling update has two parts - firstly, making scrolling smoother when using either the mouse wheel or the scrollbars (with Microsoft noting that touch screen and touch pad already scrolled smoothly). Secondly (and more excitingly) you can now stop scrolling partway through a row or column, with Excel no longer making you go any further than you want. Microsoft notes that users can try out a number of new features thanks to the update, including dragging the scroll bar to see how they can scroll with precision and stop anywhere they like. The feature is available now to Insiders on Windows with Beta Channel or Current Channel Preview with Version 2109 (Build 14430.20000) or later, and be available to all Microsoft 365 Subscribers within the next few months.
