Mailchimp and Shopify team up in ecommerce boost

Image Description

Mailchimp has announced a new partnership that allows users of its email marketing software to directly integrate with Shopify's ecommerce platform.

Both new and existing users of the two companies will now be able to connect their Mailchimp account with their Shopify storefront through a direct integration which eliminates the need for third-party tools and manual data transfers.

VP of Mailchimp's app marketplace, Joni Deus explained in a press release that this new direct integration will help drive business for both companies' customers ahead of the 2021 holiday shopping season, saying:

“Last year, Mailchimp customers generated 36 percent more orders from Thanksgiving to Giving Tuesday than they did in 2019, showing just how important having an online presence for commerce and retail businesses really is. We’re thrilled to have partnered with Shopify again ahead of our customers’ busiest season to make it easier for merchants to reach their customers, sell more stuff, and be successful.”

Direct integration

By connecting Mailchimp and Shopify directly, merchants will be able to combine the power of both purchasing and marketing data and use these insights to help drive conversions, increase revenue and reach even more customers.

The two companies decided to announce their new direct integration now so that their small business customers will have plenty of time to connect the two platforms and make this one of their most profitable holiday selling seasons yet.

Mailchimp also revealed that it has acquired ShopSync whose app has been used by tens of thousands of its customers to connect their Mailchimp and Shopify accounts over the past two years. ShopSync's work on its app also made it easy for the email marketing firm to bring their technology in house and integrate it into its platform.

  • HP and Microsoft are taking printing into the metaverse

Microsoft and HP want to solve printing issues in virtual reality using a new offering called HP xRServices.

Pairing with Microsoft’s HoloLens 2 augmented reality goggles, xRServices will allow users to jump into a virtual-real world combination, in which they can connect with HP engineers. They can then collaborate with HP engineers to get help and advice for any printer-related issue they might be having at any specific point in the print production.

By using Microsoft HoloLens 2 together with HP xRServices, users will apparently get the feeling of being physically present with a virtual coach, eliminating the need for long service calls, or even longer downtime. The company says the service will eliminate the need for face meetings, or long travels, with a complete on-press toolset providing everything needed alongside the step-by-step guidance on hand.

Compatible with all HP industrial printers

HP notes that another possible use case is for onboarding, as new employees could be guided through the process of learning about printing step by step, “as live” simulation.

The company added that the service will be compatible with all HP industrial printer hardware, and that it will be accessible for all users, both digital natives and newbies.

HP also said managers will be able to utilize HP’s Print OSx to see how to combine the data generated from doing the work, with transactional data. As a result, managers can expect more optimized, smoother future productivity.

The program is currently in the beta stages of testing, and is available to select customers.

The metaverse is essentially another word for virtual reality. encompassing an interactive, collaborative, and shared virtual 3D world, where users can work or entertain themselves.

The term, and all it stands for, has exploded in popularity since Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg announced that his company would be focusing more strongly on the metaverse goign forward.

  • I used to think I was too old for TikTok, but now I'm using it for wedding ideas

This week (February 18) marks two years since I was engaged, and since then my devices have been full of apps containing ideas for every part of the wedding.

From the flowers to the colors of the tables at the Wedding Reception we had sorted out plans for everything – putting in a level of work would make you wish you eloped and dealt with the family fallout soon after they find out.

But we had been struggling with some music ideas – especially for when our guests are finding their seats, and unfortunately, my idea of a track from Metal Gear Solid was rejected.

This is where TikTok came to the rescue for me, where discovering artists with covers and their own spin on other tracks has made us both completely redo the Wedding playlist, both for the church and the Wedding reception.

A For You page of Wedding ideas

For those unaware, TikTok is an endless vertical scroll of videos, that its algorithm sources from its millions of users. It could be clips of TV shows from the 90s, or 'life hacks' of how to clean the grill in your oven to name just two of the countless examples of what you can find.

But if you're looking for something specific without the algorithm trying to find something for you, it's the Discover page that shines here.

Typing in 'covers' or 'mashup' brings you a bunch of results of songs that you didn't think would ever work, but they do. This particular track is something that my fiance and I are already planning on using for the day.

It's content that I've never found on other social platforms. Facebook is less of a feed and more of photos and 'announcements' from those you've not spoken to in years, while Instagram is more about looking at Instagram Stories to pass the time, regardless of its efforts into short-form video as of late.

But TikTok scratches an itch I didn't know I had – where creators are giving me ideas to use for one of the most important days of my life. It's an app that, at the moment anyway, doesn't cause unnecessary discourse for certain topics, or shoehorns in paid options as I'm scrolling through Gayle and Notorious B.I.G. covers.

The app is already at the front of my iPhone home screen because of this, and once the wedding is accomplished – if there are more covers to as good as the above to find – it's not a stretch to think it may keep me around for a good while longer.
